About Moira O'Brien

Moira O'Brien has been taking photographs for some 55 years having started with a box Brownie camera in the late 1950's. She has always been interested in photographing people but it was not until the introduction of digital photography that it became a passion for her.MOB

She bought her first digital camera in 1999 and sold all her film camera kit a year later. After a brief flirtation with Sony cameras she converted to Canon in 2005 and now uses a Canon EOS 5D MkII, a Canon EOS 5D MkIII and a variety of Canon lenses and accessories.

She turned professional in 2003 and undertakes all kinds of photography assignments with an emphasis on boudoir, portraiture, weddings (both civil and religious), publicity photos, events and commercial photography. She was awarded Licentiate of the Irish Photographic Federation in 2008.

Since 2009 she has been involved in filmmaking and is the founder and Chair of Moving Image Cork (though this club is no longer meetig). She formed her own production company Friendly Ghost Films and now undertakes work as director of photography and editor as well as providing video and audio services to clients.

You can follow her on Twitter and on Facebook.

Welcome to 2019

I know I have been rather quiet in 2018, not because we haven't been working but we just got involved in too many things and neglected to update the website.

3 weeks ago I started a major undertaking - that of producing a personal video every day for 90 days. This is going well and has been a great learning experience in producing decent output in a very short space of time. Instead of taking days, weeks, or even months to produce a single video, I have now streamlined my production so much that I am able to produce a daily video - OK, so it is not that slick and the production values maybe not quite as good as my other videos..... on the other hand, maybe they are getting better all round! It will be interesting to see the results at the end of the 90 days. Here is the link to my latest video, and here is a link to subscribe to my channel.

I use TubeBuddy to streamline my video production.
